homeless characters are slightly different in that most of them don't have journals or icons set up, so you may have to give me a day or so to do that. and in some cases, a couple more days to canon review if i haven't in a while.

Oh. Huh. A bit older than Anakin, then. [She had thought maybe they were the same age.]

<sub>[Ah, of course. At least she's not assuming they knew each other, but Ferus again wonders if he should tell her or anything.

But instead of talking about how he remembers Anakin - which is frankly with a lot of issues on either end - he looks at her thoughtfully for a moment, considers how to ask what he really does want to know about Anakin. In the end he does it with a carefully neutral tone, but lets his curiosity shine through.]</sub>

How is he as a Master?

If you don't mind me asking.

Truthfully? He's... different. From other Masters, I mean. Passionate. Impulsive. But he's also strong, and clever, and caring-- you won't find anyone more loyal to their troops, or as good at making up brilliant tactical maneuvers on the spot when everything else has gone to pieces. And he never gives up.

<sub>[He listens carefully, and he finds that what she's saying makes sense with the image of Anakin that he has - such incredible raw talent, so fiercely emotional. It doesn't seem like a stretch for Anakin to become the person she's describing.

So he nods, and then he figures, if Anakin is here, it's not like she won't know about this soon enough, anyway.]</sub>

That sounds about right.

I knew him when we were Padawans.

[Ahsoka perks up with interest immediately, becoming instantly more animated.]

Wait-- really?

How well? I mean-- were you friends? He never talks about the past. I have to practically pry it out of him.

_{[He can't help but snort, and when he shakes his head, the smile that comes with it manages to mix both amusement and something wry and sardonic.]}

It was a good day if we weren't getting in each other's way. He didn't like me much. I was a careful rule-follower.

_{[And that speaks for itself, really.]}

[It certainly does. Ahsoka has to suppress a laugh.]

Oh-- well no wonder you didn't get along.

_{[The way she just immediately accepts that shows how little that's changed on Anakin's end, and Ferus gives her a half smile.]}

None whatsoever. And he was all impulse, so I didn't like him much, either.

Well, maybe the Force put you both together for that reason.

<sub>[... ah. He falls quiet for a second, mulling that over in a way he's probably not quite meant to. But he's never thought about it that way, has stopped thinking about the will of the Force a long time ago, but maybe, in a way, he should be grateful to Anakin for what went down.

He's a better person for having left. Anakin played a part in that, however painful.]</sub>

Hm. Maybe. But I think we would have both learned more from each other if we hadn't been so good at getting under each other's skins.

Hindsight's 20/20, isn't that what they say?

Linger, no. But there's no harm in learning from the past, right?

[Honestly, how did Anakin raise such a decent Padawan? It's a mystery to everyone.]

Ah, yes. Be always mindful of your actions. Accept your mistakes and grow from them.

_{[He's relaxed now, clearly recalling some of his own lessons. There's something surprisingly freeing in talking to Ahsoka about this, however shallowly, because he usually just ... doesn't. Most people don't understand or ask too many questions.]}

See? Maybe if you saw each other again in the future, it wouldn't be so bad. You've probably both grown a lot. I know Anakin has, even in just the time I've known him.

We were boys. Of course we've changed.

But if I don't get the pleasure of running into him on this mission, feel free to tell him I said hi.

<sub>[Again, a smile, but then he falls quiet as they push on. Behind them the clones are chattering a bit, getting to know each other as well, something Ferus is wholly supportive of.

Thousand is the one who's most social out of the three, and Raz is one of the troopers Ferus counts on to lead if he himself would be unable to or needs to split a group up. Bit: quiet but capable.

They're covering ground reasonably fast, and things hush a little with the first hint of the enemy base; some distance out, but the wall surrounding and protecting the Sep holdout and its numerous people and smaller buildings is tall and rises above the trees.

Ferus pauses, then looks to Ahsoka.]</sub>

Do you want to come in straight on or keep some distance until we're right on target?
