homeless characters are slightly different in that most of them don't have journals or icons set up, so you may have to give me a day or so to do that. and in some cases, a couple more days to canon review if i haven't in a while.

Glad to be working with you, Lieutenant.

[Ahsoka grins then and looks back at her own three men.] Boys?

[They introduce themselves as well. Dodger, Spike and Trip.]

... All right. Are we ready to get this show on the road?

Sure are, Commander. Let's go.

_{[And as soon as Ahsoka sets the pace, they are indeed going. The terrain doesn't look like it'll be particularly challenging, but the course is winding and might be a little slow going in such a forrested area. Still, it beats open ground.]}

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka considers him as they walk. If she wants to get to know him better, it'll have to be now or never. The closer in they get to enemy lines, the less likely it is that they'll be able to talk. After a few minutes setting the pace and making sure everyone is settled in, she draws level with Ferus.]

... So, Lieutenant.

[She hesitates-- she isn't quite sure how to phrase what she wants to ask.]

Yes, Commander.

_{[It's not a question, because he's pretty sure he has an idea of what's on her mind. But the look he gives her is open enough - she's free to ask her questions, for now. He can at the very least satisfy her curiosity, but he's not going to volunteer information himself, either.]}

[resnipstance]

... You're ... strong with the Force, aren't you.

[It's not really the question she wants to ask. But she feels like asking it straight up would be intrusive and rude. She doesn't know this man well enough to know how he'd respond, and it isn't really her business besides. So she starts with a true statement instead-- to test the waters.]

[bellassa]

I was.

_{[Which is true enough, in Ferus' opinion - he had a lot of promise back then, and he could do much he can't anymore. He supposes he still is strong with it just by virtue of having once been, but it doesn't feel that way, and so there's a bit of a shrug in the way he answers. He he lowers his voice though, eyebrows a little raised.]}

I don't like to advertise it. People get expectations.

[resnipstance]

Was? ... Did something happen?

[Suddenly she seems more like her age-- a curious sixteen year old who forgets her manners in the wake of being curious and nosy.]

[bellassa]

I stopped accessing it.

_{[Simply put, and he imagines she'll see why inaction lessens his ability with it.]}

[The confusion and horror shows plain on Ahsoka's face. She can't imagine simply shutting herself off from the Force like that. She asks the next question before she can even think twice about it.]

Why?

It came naturally. I know that’s hard to believe. But I left the Order years ago and I don't regret it.

_{[it's context he mostly offers because he knows she'll be able to guess it eventually anyway. He's Force trained. It's not something he can hide.]}

[Well, that answers that question, then.]

... So you were a Jedi.

[It isn't a question, more a statement of wonder.

After all-- why would anyone leave the Order?]

[bellassa]

A padawan, actually.

_{[he was still just a boy when he left, really. And he doesn’t like to let anyone believe he was ever a full-fledged Jedi.[}

[resnipstance]

But-- why would you leave? The Order is... it's family!

[bellassa]

I don't think you know me that well yet, Commander.

_{[Looking back at her, he raises his eyebrows. He manages to be teasing enough to not be ride or challenging, but the message should be clear: his reasons are personal.]}

[resnipstance]

[The stripes on her lekku darken slightly in embarrassment. She should have known better, really-- she just let curiosity get the better of her. But the question was outright rude. In any case, she looks appropriately sheepish.]

... Right. ... Of course. You're right.

[An awkward silence descends then, leaving Ahsoka unsure of how to proceed.]

<sub>[Ferus is generally not very generous with these details even under the best of circumstamces. Even his husband doesn’t know the details of why he left. But with Ahsoka Tano it's something he can already tell he'll guard even more, because she's the Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, who played a part in everything that happened.

He's not even sure whether to let on that he knew Anakin at all.

So that pause stretches for a while, but then Ferus shakes himself out of it and throws her a bone. He's not a fan of silence anymore.]</sub>

It was a hard decision. And I missed the Jedi for a long time, especially my Master. But I'm not going back for a number of reasons.

_{[Then there's a half smile.]} It makes it pretty interesting to work with Jedi again, though.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka still trying to make sense of it all, honestly.]

I see.

You left, but... you're still fighting for the Republic?

[bellassa]

Why wouldn't I?

I'm still sworn to the Republic and the best for the galaxy. And I know plenty of people who fight without being Jedi or clones.

[resnipstance]

I don't know, it's just-- usually when you hear about people leaving, it's because they decide they can't hack the fighting or... well. You know. The Dark Side.

Er-- which obviously isn't the case here!

[bellassa]

_{[and there's the amused look.]}

Right.

I don't like the fighting at all, but if I can help ... besides, a lot of people from home are here, doing this. I'm not going to give them opportunity to show me up.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka shakes her head, rolls her eyes and smiles fondly all at once. It's a very Anakin gesture.]

Boys and their pride. I don't think I'll ever understand it.

[But it's clear from her tone that she's teasing.]

[bellassa]

_{[There's a small laugh, at that.]}

Whatever gets the job done, right?

_{[Then, raising his voice and calling over his shoulder,]} Right guys?

_{[An obedient chorus of "yes sir"s from Raz, Bit and Thousand, and Ferus shoots Ahsoka a cheeky smile.]}

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka snorts and keeps walking.

After a few more minutes:]

... How old are you, anyway? If you don't mind my asking.

[Her question has an air of curiousity to it-- no judgement. She just wants to know for the asking. It seems Ahsoka's inquisitive nature can't be stopped so easily. Have some pity on poor Anakin.]

_{[He looks curiously back at her, at first not quite seeing why that's relevant at all.]}

Twenty-four, why?

Oh. Huh. A bit older than Anakin, then. [She had thought maybe they were the same age.]
